What size will my sign be?
On our design & order page you can enter your requirements, changing sizes, fonts, colours etc. Information such as the size of your sign, the price and even the weight is displayed when you update your changes.

Can the sign be made smaller or larger to suit my exact requirements?
Yes it can. If you need a particular size of sign, perhaps to fit into a recess or onto a column, we can scale the design to fit. Try our order page first, to see what our regular sizes come out as. If it needs to be adjusted slightly, email us with the lettering requirements and the size required. We will produce a design proof and quotation, based on your specific dimensions for you to consider.  There is no charge or commitment for using this service.

How thick are the signs?
We only use solid slabs of natural slate that are around 20mm (3/4") thick.

Do you provide fixings for the sign?
Yes we do. Included with each sign are suitable sized brass or stainless steel fixing screws and wall plugs.
Normally stainless steel screws are used with the silver or grey paint, brass screws are provided for all other colours.

What guarantee do you provide for the House Signs?
We guarantee all our slate signs for a full twelve months from date of order.
Because we only use high quality natural slate slabs, your sign will in fact last for many many years without problems. Slate is well known for it's long lasting qualities (hence it's useage as a roofing material) and will require no treatment or specialist maintenance.  An occasional cleaning with hot soapy water will suffice.

I live outside the UK. Do you deliver to my country?
Sorry but currently, we only deliver within the United Kingdom.
Plans are afoot to extend our service to the USA, Canada and Ireland during 2006.

What Credit and Debit cards do you accept?
We accept VISA, Mastercard, Switch, Maestro and Solo cards and you can pay online using our secure order page.
If you don't like using your card online, select "Callback" at the order checkout and we will telephone you to obtain your card details. Alternatively, print the order form on our brochure page, complete it with your chosen card details and fax through to us.
Sorry, but we have no plans to accept American Express cards.

Do I have to pay by card? What about a cheque?
You can choose to pay by cheque if you wish.  We will send you an Invoice by first class post along with a stamped addressed return envelope. As long as your cheque arrives at House Signs UK within seven days, your order should not be delayed in any way.

Can I amend an order that I've already submitted?
It is often possible to amend an order.
Our production process begins quite rapidly after your order is placed, so it is likely that a suitable stone will have been chosen and cut for you within seven days. Lettering, painting and polishing comes later.
Should you really need to change your order, contact us at the earliest opportunity. If it is not too late, we will happily amend your order as necessary.
Please try to ensure that the order you place is exactly what you require. If lettering has begun, we will be unable to make any amendments.

How can I track the progress of my order?
We will email or post a confirmation to you as soon as your order is in our system. This will include the expected delivery date. (Note; more than 99% of our orders are sent out on time). 
If you wish to check on the progress of your order at any other time, please feel free to contact us.

How long does delivery take?
Our current delivery date is shown on our home page and the bottom of each webpage. We are proud to state that more than 99% of our orders are despatched on the date we initially promise.  In fact, during 2005 we didn't miss a single despatch date.
Once your sign has been safely despatched, we will advise you by email or telephone.

What if my sign arrives damaged?
We take every precaution to ensure your sign arrives in perfect condition.  Our packaging has been custom designed to reduce the risk of damage to your sign.
However, damage during transit will can occassionally occur. (Note; in the eighteen months to July 2003, only one of our signs was received with any damage!).
In the unlikely event of this happening you should inform us at the earliest opportunity and retain the damaged sign (along with its packaging) for a period of at least one month from date of delivery.
If you have a digital camera, it would also be greatly appreciated if you could email a picture of the damage.
Upon your notification, we will immediately raise an urgent replacement order at no cost to yourself and register an insurance claim with our carriers.
